Moritz Schneidewendt
°1989, in Freiburg/Brg., lives and works in Offenbach/Main
My particular passion is contemporary music. As a clarinetist with a wide range of interests, I work both as a performer and as a creative artist. The focus of my artistic work is chamber music with my own ensembles Broken Frames Syndicate, ensemble via nova and Kommas Ensemble, as well as a preference for creative collaboration in interdisciplinary processes.
After completing my studies with distinction with Professors Manfred Lindner and Thorsten Johanns in Würzburg and Weimar, I gained orchestral experience.
From 2017 I dedicated myself to contemporary music and specialised at the International Ensemble Modern Academy.
Further impulses came from the clarinetists Ralf Manno, Martin Spangenberg, Reto Bieri, Andreas Langenbuch, Nina Janßen-Deinzer and Ernesto Molinari.
In close collaboration with young composers, as a guest of renowned ensembles and as a soloist, I have the opportunity to participate in numerous world premieres and regularly perform at festivals at home and abroad.
In addition, I am very interested in creative and experimental formats in which I can act as a performer on stage.
Convinced that classical music today needs contemporary frameing, I want to renew outdated structures in the industry. That's why I develop my own concepts and formats, particularly interested in focusing on socially relevant topics and stimulating the imagination.

Broken Frames Syndicate
plays contemporary music and brings holistic concert experiences to the stage. The ten of us show alternatives to the usual and stand up for the critical examination of socially relevant topics. Our focus is on collaboration with young composers, through which we commit ourselves to the diversification of the contemporary classical scene.
The conceptual depth of our programming is the core of our vision. With new formats, we use music to tell stories, inspire discussions, think outside the box, and invest in new ways of thinking.
In doing so, we consciously free ourselves from outdated structures and dogmas of the music business.
Founded in 2018 after our time at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt, we now play in varying formations and regularly perform in concerts and at festivals in Germany and abroad. Recent invitations include Mixtur Festival in Barcelona, the Harvard Group for New Music residency, and Beethovenfest Bonn.
BFS is awarded the Ernst von Siemens Ensembleprize 2024.

We question the existing.
We draw strength from fractures.
We are the Broken Frames Syndicate.
We cooperate with young composers and put current music into the context of topics that matter to us.
We are more than the parts of ourselves.
Kommas Ensemble
Kommas Ensemble is a Cologne-based contemporary music formation. A special focus is on the latest developments in Latin American new music. With conceptual programmes, Latin American composers in Germany are given a platform to broaden the spectrum of contemporary music here and thus contribute to a democratisation of the global music business.Latin American composers, new artistic positions and socio-political themes from Latin America are to be increasingly reflected in our programmes.

We are dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary chamber music. Our projects include electronics, improvisation, scenic elements and light installations that are integrated into new concert formats. We particularly enjoy performing premieres and therefore collaborate closely with composers. In this way, we cultivate a broad repertoire of new works dedicated to us.
Since 2016, we have been playing in the same instrumentation - flute, clarinet, accordion, violin and violoncello. Our own concert series at the Erfurt Kunsthalle REFLEXIONEN - CO|:N:|ECT - TRANSFORM - FUSION, however, seek contact with other musicians. We have realised projects with ensembles such as Ensemble Mosaik, Black Pencil (NL), NeoQuartet (PL), Pluto's Tide Dance Company, Good Mori (KOR), UMS'n JIP (CH) and the jazz musician Wolfgang Lackerschmidt.
Regularly we perform on international stages and at festivals. Some of our highlights have been trips to Seoul and Daegu, London, Italy, Switzerland, Gdansk or Barcelona.
